Huge Crash Occurs On Final Lap At Daytona As Austin Hill Grabs First Xfinity Win

The NASCAR Xfinity Series took on the high banks of the Daytona Super Speedway today for the first race of the 2022 season. The majority of the race was calm with several spins bringing out yellow flags, it was not until the final 50 laps where the chaos would come. Multi-car crashes and several yellow flags would occur despite the field racing in a mainly conservative manner. Going onto the final lap it would be AJ Allmendinger with the lead looking for his first Daytona win. Onto the backstretch for the final time we saw multiple lanes form with three-wide racing action with the mid pack getting aggressive. At the middle of the backstretch we would see a truly horrific accident occur, Myatt Snider’s car got turned around where it would then go airborne, hitting the catch fence at almost a fully vertical angle. Snider’s car had its engine, gears and rear wheels fully ripped out of the car as it caught on fire, there was almost nothing left of the No.31 after the 160mph+ crash. Thankfully Snider got out of the car under his own power and walked away. In the mist of all the carnage Austin Hill would be crowned the winner as he was ahead by just inches over Allmendinger when the yellow lights came on.

Austin Hill won at Daytona in the NASCAR Truck Series several years ago and is now a winner of it in the Xfinity Series. The rookie was able to stay out of trouble and topped a veteran field to go into victory lane.
