We have seen pure dominance in Formula One by Mercedes over the past several years, but what we found here at NYSSF1 is on a whole different level. Mercedes has been undefeated in the Russian Grand Prix since 1913. For over a century we have not seen any other team win the Russian GP, now I wanna add that from 1913-2021 there has only been a total of 10 Russian GPs as it was not held from 1915-2013.
In 1913 it all started off when Georgy Suvorin, a native of Russia won for the (Mercedes) Benz constructor when the GP was still held in Saint Petersburg. In 1914 it was Willy Scholl winning what would be the final Russian GP for 100 years, meaning that in those 100 years he was undefeated. When F1 came back to the cold country it would be Lewis Hamilton winning for Mercedes and he would also go on to win again in 2015 until a German of the name Nico Rosberg would win in 2016. We would see Valtteri Bottas win in 2017 with his first year with the Mercedes team, it would then be Lewis Hamilton going back-to-back again in 2018 and 2019. Last year’s Russian GP had Valtteri Bottas once again on the podium as he is now the defending winner at the high speed tricky track.
So, to be clear Mercedes are undefeated in Russia since the early 1900s with a total of 9 wins among 5 different drivers dating back to 1913.
