The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is set to do their second race of the season this Sunday at the Stafford Motor Speedway for the 49th annual Spring Sizzler, but the sizzler is looking more like a drizzlier as there is a 90% chance of rain for Sunday. This comes during the opening weekend at Stafford as there is racing planned for both Saturday and Sunday. With the high chance of rain for Sunday there are talks that Stafford would move all the Sunday races to Saturday. As of now nothing as been officially announced, but if so, Stafford already has five divisions of racing this upcoming Saturday ( Granite State Pro Stock Series 75 LAPS, SK Modified 40 LAPS, Late Model 30 LAPS, Limited Late Model 20 LAPS, Street Stock 20 LAPS ) If this does occur practice would most likely be Friday do allow more time for racing on Saturday.
Many fans are expecting that Stafford would do what Thompson Speedway did just several weeks ago when they had to push all the racing in one day. Thompson had all the fans leave and had to re - enter after just a short time. If Stafford does have all racing on Saturday there would be a total of 9 features among 8 different divisions (SK Modified is scheduled for a double header weekend) If this does occur Stafford's paddock may be too small for every team to be there so, as already planned the divisions that are supposed to race Saturday would leave during that short period where fans have to leave as well.
While there are talks about a race filled Saturday, there are also talks about racing next weekend, this is mainly due to scheduling though.
NYSS Race Day would like to stress that none of this has been confirmed by anyone with the Whelen Tour or Stafford Motor Speedway. NYSS Race Day will post an update when any news comes out involving this. Get notified when we post
