During this 2021 Whelen Modified season we have seen weather play into the race weekend more than once this season as races have ended under rain or have been pushed back time wise due to the weather. Over the past few seasons we have seen NASCAR race in the rain, but those races have been on road courses, but earlier in the season NASCAR did race on a dirt track. That dirt track was Bristol Motor Speedway, it is a short track and the Whelen Modified Tour has raced at Bristol except on the concrete side.
Hoosier is the tire supplier for the Tour, as of now they do not have a wet compound for the series. I can easily see within the next ten years that the Whelen Modified Tour would race in the rain and I'm not talking about a full downpour I am talking about light rain to just a steady pace of a downfall. If Hoosier can make a wet compound something similar to the Bristol dirt tire (Track was wet at time of races) then it is very possible, with that it would also add more interest to the sport and strategy to the races. For example Formula One has wet compounds and when light rain occurs during the races we see teams stay out on the dry's as others pit for the wets.
It would be fun to see if that ever occurs in the future of the series that has been neglected by NASCAR for many years.
