Stafford Speedway Has A Repeat Of 2008 / What This Means For Local Racing

The Stafford Motor Speedway has been getting all the attention as of late with the SRX Series race and local racing getting more and more popular every week along with their brilliant social media campaign. It is without a question that Stafford is one of the best local racing tracks in the northeast right now as the racing is great and the fan interaction is amazing. If you needed another reason though to go the track, well here it is, the number eight. So far this season the SK Modified division at Stafford has featured 7 different winners in the first eight races, the last time that occurred was back in 2008 where we saw Bo Gunning, Keith Rocco, Woody Pitkat, Frank Ruocco, Kenny Horton, Rob Summers and the late great Ted Christopher (2 wins) all appear in the V.L at least once in the first eight races.

The amount of talent in the Stafford SK division is truly top notch and the exact definition of what true racers are. We have also have seen a few upsets so far this season as SK Modified drivers Stephen Kopcik, Todd Owen, Michael Christopher Jr, Keith Rocco, Chase Dowling, Bryan Narducci and Tyler Hines (2 wins) have all appeared in victory lane. It is hard to say who has fully been the top driver so far this season, but it's easy to see who has been the stand out driver this season and that driver is Tyler Hines. Tyler Hines finished p19 last season in the points standings with a total of 268 points and a lone top 10. Now this season Hines has shined with two wins, six top5s and six top10s giving him 320 points.

So going back to 2008, that was 13 years ago and time flies. For reference the author typing this article was 4 years old, we had a major stock market crash, Google Chrome was released, Phillies won the World Series and Jimmie Johnson won his third NASCAR championship. Overall that seems like such a long time ago, but for racing it seems like decades. Stafford Motor Speedway has always had great racing, but for the first time in years it is truly 'may the best driver win.' We are seeing a new winner and sometimes even a first time winner every week and its not just in the Modifieds, its in every division Stafford has to offer. This is not only great for the track, drivers and fans but also for local racing as a whole. We are seeing the stars of tomorrow battle it out for the win right in front of us. It is times like these that fully make fans for life in kids and adults by going to the races or watching them on tv.
