The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is making its third stop on the schedule for this 2021 racing season as they head to Riverhead for the Miller Lite 200. This is the first of three stops at the track that has been a regular in the tour since the 1980s. The Whelen Modified Tour did not race at Riverhead last season due to the COVID-19 virus, so it will be the first time in this decade that the tour modifies race there. Over the past several races at the track we have seen Justin Bonsignore dominate and win, overall though going into this race all the attention will be on local favorite and the points leader, Eric Goodale. Eric Goodale has a win already on the season at Martinsville along with a top five finish at Stafford, Goodale has the momentum and is looking to extend his points lead.
Ryan Preece will be racing again this weekend, Preece ran good at Stafford but ended up taking himself and Ron Silk out in the remaining laps of the Spring Sizzler. It will be very interesting to see how this race goes, so far both races this season for the tour have had rain affect them, going into this race there is less than a 10% chance of rain. With that said the race will most likely start on time and will go all the way through. Riverhead has always produced great racing and this will indeed be a great race.
NYSS Race Day would also like to give a mini shoutout to Melissa Fifield who will be making her 100th start in the tour!
