Kevin Magnussen was considered retired just several weeks before the start of the 2022 Formula One season, now he has won his first career pole in the racing series.
K-Mag was signed by HAAS F1 just several weeks before the start of the season, in replacement of Nikita Mazepin. Now with the season on the close the series was at Interlagos for the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Magnussen was entering his 140th race weekend when he took his car onto the track for qualifying. K-Mag made it all the way to the third qualifier round, being just one of ten drivers in it. He would be one of the first cars on the track and set the fastest time. Soon afterwards rain would appear, forcing drivers to go to wet tires, slowing down the pace.
With that no one was able to catch the the Danish driver, he would win the pole by just 0.203s over Max Verstappen.
