Stafford Speedway SK Modified driver Matt Vassar has announced that he will not be behind the wheel of the iconic no.11 Hummel Brothers SK early this morning via a social media post. Vassar is departing from the hot dog SK team owned by John Hummel himself with just weeks left of the 2021 racing season. Vassar stated that “In order to get the best possible results in this sport, it’s vital for all parties to work in perfect harmony” and he also went on saying that “The team and I have realized that was no longer achievable.” Overall though it is not fully stated why Vassar has left the team.
Overall Matt Vassar is in the middle of a career season for him in the SK Modifieds with two top 5s and four top 10s. Vassar made it clear that finishing this season is a goal for him and that he also plans to race this upcoming Friday, but now against the team he was with the past three-and-a-half seasons. As of now Vassar has not announced a team or seat announcement for this upcoming race, he currently sits p16 in the Stafford SK Modified points.
