Hailie Deegan is one of the most-watched young drivers in the sport of NASCAR as she is currently competing in what is her rookie season in the Camping World Truck Series. Several weeks ago Deegan posted a photo of her with the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) co-founder Ray Evernham on her Instagram with the caption "Here we come." It was later announced by Knoxville Raceway that Deegan would compete at the track for the second race of the season, which is scheduled on June 19th. Deegan is not expected to be a full-time driver in the series, instead most likely she will be a one-time "ringer" driver the SRX Series has for drivers to compete against the likes of Tony Kanaan, Tony Stewart and Michael Waltrip.
Deegan, 19, has been one of the biggest drivers when it comes to hype ever since her debut in the K&N West Pro Series, where she became the first female driver to win a race. It is expected that within the next several years that Deegan will advance to the NASCAR Cup Series, but she has a long way to go. Overall through nine races in the Truck Series Deegan has an average finish of 20th with only four lead lap finishes and no finishes in the top10. Hailie Deegan has talent, but the hype is just simply too much for the young driver as she has not proven herself in the series yet. Will she be a superstar one day? Yes, most likely she will, racing runs in her blood and she already has done and achieved many things in lower series.
The SRX Series is comprised of former champions and 'big race' winners along with local track favorites that have made a name for themselves in grass root racing and Deegan does not fall in that category. The SRX has gained a lot of popularity and of course having well known drivers compete in the series draws more crowds and makes tv ratings increase.
Hailie Deegan has not proven herself yet, or has she? Vote on our poll below if you think Hailie Deegan belongs in the SRX Series.
