Bert Ouellette can be found at the Thompson Speedway behind the wheel of SK Lites, but this season is a little different as not only is Bert driving SKs' at Thompson, but he is also driving street stocks at Stafford Speedway.
Now this is not Bert's first time behind the wheel of a fender car as he raced Mini Stocks at Thompson Speedway where he won Rookie of The Year, on top of that he also raced trucks where he won the 2016 Spring Sizzler and the Fall Final features at the Stafford Speedway.
It is safe to say though that those cars handle very much differently then the street stocks at Stafford, but from what I saw in Bert's first street stock race it seemed like he adjusted very quick to the car. In an interview with the New York Sports Show, Bert said how it will take a lot of adjusting and that he would like to see what the team can do.
Bert completed his first street stock race on April 24th for the Stafford opening day 20 lap feature. After starting p10 Bert had a very strong run, contending with veteran drivers and definitely showing that he means business. Sadly Bert's day ended not the way he would've hoped for and he would be credited with an 18th place finish, but he showed that he can contend with drivers and run high in the standings.
This season will be very interesting in the Stafford street stock division as many big names left after last season, but with that said we also have a lot of new drivers and several drivers coming back after being M.I.A last season. Bert seems like he will be a contender for top five runs and even a win.
It will be very fun and interesting to see how Bert's Stafford Street Stock career goes.
