Last season it came down to the final lap of the final race for Max Verstappen to win the Formula One Championship, 2022 was a different story. The F1 grid took on the famed Suzuka Circuit today in Japan as the season continues to wind down.
It would end up being a truly dominant race for the Red Bull team as they would get a p1 and p2 come race end, with Max Verstappen winning and Sergio Perez coming in second. The win for Max Verstappen marks his 36th grand prix win in his F1 career, but this win also marks something even more special: he is now the 2022 champion. With Max Verstappen winning it knocks out the rest of the field mathematically on points, this is due to the point lead Max has leaving Suzuka compared to races left.
There are four races left on the calendar and with those four Max Verstappen has nothing to lose as he has already won it all.
