Tri Track Series vs Whelen Modified Tour / What Is Better?

In this article/poll we will be looking at three things, Schedule - Money - Competition

The Tri Track Series has been around since 2014 and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour since 1985. Over the past several seasons we have seen the Tri Track Series grow in popularity from both drivers and fans as the Whelen Modified Tour has received criticism from the same crowd due to NASCAR's neglect of it and prices being too high to compete for some teams in races that offer a small payout compared to other modified series.

The last two racing seasons particularly for the Tri Track Series has been some of the biggest in both fan and driver turnout. For example one of the most recent Tri Track races that took place last October at the Stafford Motor Speedway featured over 50 entries and a B-Main due to the amount of drivers/cars. For those who have been to Stafford for a while know that 40+ cars entering for just a single division is not seen there too frequently.

The Whelen Modified Tour has a steady amount of cars/drivers per race, I wanna add though that most drivers who compete in the Tour or have competed in it have moved fully to the Tri Track Series or compete in it on the side/part time. The Whelen Modified Tour features more races on its schedule along with several other tracks that you would not find on the Tri Track schedule. The Whelen Modified Tour dates back to the 1940s as it was the modified division, it was not until 1985 that they became what was called the NASCAR Winston Modified Tour. It is without a doubt the most important series in NASCAR as we have seen several superstars who made a name for themselves in the series and moved up to the NASCAR Cup Series or one of the three top series (Xfinity and Truck being other two.)

Over the past few years the Whelen Modified Tour has gotten more expensive to compete race in and race out, but when you look at all of the NASCAR divisions the prices to compete, not to mention to run a winning team have all gone up dramatically. Now that would not be as bad if the payoff was good, now of course the Whelen Tour isn't the Cup Series so the drivers won't be making 300k+ per race, but if you look at the payoff vs how much it costs to run a team there is little if any financial gain.

The Tri Track Series has begun its 7th season just several weeks ago and the hype it has received is on a whole another level, but it is not over done. The hype fits perfectly as the racing holds up to it. The racing the Tri Track Series produces is some of the best I have ever seen, weather its the heat, consi or the feature the racing keeps the fans 'alive' during the races. The Whelen Modified Tour also produces good racing and has made many of the drivers names become household names in the grassroot racing community, which of course attracts more fans to races and creates more fans in general. The bad thing about the Whelen Tour is that the tv coverage of it is some of the worst ever seen as the announcers can barley get the names correct of the drivers and if there is a delay the fans watching on tv receive no updates or anything. With that said the Tour can lose fans that are not able to make it to the race(s) and can only watch on tv.

Overall both series has their fair share of pros and cons, vote on our poll below and tell us what series you think is better.
